Operatives of the police command in Adamawa have apprehended a 36-year-old man for raping his 21-year-old neighbour’s wife in Angwan Diocese Kala’a in Hong local government area of the state.
In a statement issued via the command’s social media pages, the suspect, Ja’afar Adamu, a resident of Angwan Diocese Kala’a in Hong, was said to have allegedly raped the victim while her husband was at the farm.
Having noticed the absence of the victim’s husband, he entered the house and, after that, forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her.
“Investigation, so far, reveals that the suspect was wearing a black face mask and also carried a knife which he used in threatening the victim to comply with his demands.
“Unfortunately for him, upon committing the act, his mask fell off, having been reconised by the victim, he fled away through the window,” the police stated.
According to the statement, the incident was reported to the Divisional Police headquarters by the victim’s husband.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, who frowns at ugly incident, has directed the Officer in charge of the Family Support Unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the perpetrator,” the statement added.
