The Police in Katsina State have arrested a woman, Zainab Muhammad, for allegedly killing her husband three days after their wedding in Jibia Local Government Area.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Abubakar Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina command disclosed on Tuesday, November 25.
According to Aliyu, the couple had been married for barely three days before the unfortunate incident.
Aliyu in a statement said the groom was discovered in a pool of blood at his residence in the Tashar Buja community.
He was later pronounced dead by medical professionals at the hospital.
“On November 23, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., a report was received at the Jibia Division that one Abdullahi, a newly wedded groom, was found motionless in a pool of blood in his residence at Tashar Buja Quarters, Jibia LGA.
“Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was found with a deep cut to his neck. He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival,” Aliyu said.
He further added that the prime suspect in the matter is the deceased’s wife who has since been arrested and is currently in the custody of the police pending the outcome of the investigation.
Aliyu noted that Muhammed was said to have stabbed her husband in his sleep before she left the house.
He added that, following the incident, neighbours alerted authorities after discovering the deceased lying lifeless.
Quoting a family member’s account, Aliyu said the marriage between the late groom and Muhammad was forced, despite the couple having maintained a cordial relationship before their wedding.
