
The police in the Federal Capital Territory have confirmed the death of a yet-to-identified woman killed along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line.
Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command said an investigation has been launched into the death of the woman.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 25, Adeh said the police received a distress call at about on Monday, March 24.
Adeh said upon receiving the call, officers were deployed to the scene of the incident- behind Zeberced Company, Idu – where the woman’s already disfigured body was recovered.
She said it is believed that the woman must have been struck by a moving train.
“On March 24, 2025, at about 11am, FCT Police responded to a distress call reporting an unconscious female on the railway tracks behind Zeberced Company, Idu. Upon arrival, officers found a lifeless and disfigured female body, believed to have been struck by a train.
“The remains were evacuated to Kubwa General Hospital, where her death was confirmed. Efforts are ongoing to identify her and locate her relatives,” Adeh said.
