Police Confirm Death and Abduction of Community Leaders in Bauchi

The Bauchi Police Command has confirmed the killing of one person and the abduction of three others, including two community leaders in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that SP. Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi Police Command, provided details about the incident during an interview in Bauchi on Monday.

According to Wakil, the gunmen launched an attack on a community known as Balma, resulting in the death of one individual and the abduction of three others, which included two community leaders.

The attack took place late on Saturday.

The village head of Balma community, Alhaji Hussaini Saleh, aged 48, was among the abducted individuals. Additionally, the gunmen targeted Idris Mai Unguwa and Ya’u Gandu Maliya, aged 45. Unfortunately, during the attack, a man named Haruna Jibrin was shot in the head by the assailants.

This newspaper reports that upon receiving a distress call, the police promptly dispatched a team to the scene. They were able to rescue Haruna Jibrin and rushed him to the General Hospital in Ningi for medical treatment. Tragically, despite efforts to save him, Jibrin succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

In response to the incident, the Ningi Division of the police force has initiated a search operation in the surrounding bush area with the aim of safely rescuing the two abducted community leaders.
