The police command in Lagos has foiled an attempted robbery on a bank opposite Maplewood Estate, Oko Oba.

Politics Nigeria gathered that the suspects were breaking the security doors to gain entry when men of the state police command stormed the scene to restore order.

The robbery was averted and a suspect was arrested.

On his part, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the command, revealed: “We got the distress call at 4:20 am and responded swiftly. Keeping Lagos State safe and secure is a task we are not relenting at.”

Recall that the detained former commander, the Intelligence Response Team, IRT Squad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari had described the claim by one of Offa bank robbery suspects, that he offered him the sum of N10 million to implicate former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as a ‘fat lie’.

One of the principal suspects in the trial of the Offa bank robbery incident at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, Ayoade Akinrinbosun, on Wednesday, told the court how the former Commander, IRT squad, Abba Kyari, offered him N10 million to implicate former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, in the armed robbery case

However, reacting to the allegation in a statement through his lawyer, Barrister Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Kyari, who denied the allegation, said throughout his service in the Nigeria Police, he “did not at any time coerce or force anyone to implicate anybody no matter how highly placed.”
