WhatsApp, Facebook crash: ‘We’re not safe’ – Lawyer

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says social media users on Facebook are not safe anymore.

Ejiofor’s submission comes a day after social networking services, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp crashed globally, and left over 33 million Nigerians stranded.

Although, the three apps are now back, many social media devotees were in a shock.

Facebook users say they were in confused when they opened up their browser or app and found they couldn’t log in. Scrolling through pictures, checking updates, all the features Facebook and its family of sites offered were brought to a halt when the outage started.

“At last we are back again. The only take home from hackers intervention of yesterday, is that media platforms being managed by Zuckerberg has been gravely compromised.
Time to be more circumspect, and think about alternative.

“Also to be noted is the fact that we are not even safe here afterall,” Ejiofor wrote via his known Facebook page on Tuesday.
