In a significant breakthrough, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspects involved in the sale of a fabricated AK47 rifle and ammunition.

The arrest took place in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, specifically at Boto Market, following a tip-off from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

SP Ahmed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest during a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi.

“The suspects, who travelled from Plateau State, were negotiating the sale of the fake rifle for N580,000,” Wakil stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa, has vowed to track down and apprehend the manufacturers of such illegal weapons.

“The Command is committed to eliminating illegal firearms in the state and has urged citizens to cooperate in this effort,” Wakil added.

The successful arrest underscores the Police Command’s dedication to tackling the proliferation of small and light arms in Bauchi State.

The suspects will face charges in court once the ongoing investigation concludes. The public is assured of the police’s continued commitment to ensuring safety and security throughout the state.
