Police rescue abducted Nasarawa traditional ruler

The Nasarawa State Police Command announced on Tuesday that the traditional ruler of Dari, Emmanuel Omanji, has been rescued unhurt after being abducted from his palace on May 28.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the operation in a statement. “The command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, was successfully rescued unhurt,” he said.

According to Nansel, the rescue took place around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station. “The rescue operation took place in the Panwasa Mountains, Mada Station, following sustained pressure from the command’s Search and Rescue Team,” he added.

Following his rescue, Omanji was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. He has since been reunited with his family. “Efforts are ongoing by our operatives to apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the abduction,” Nansel noted.

On behalf of Commissioner of Police Mr. Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, the command expressed gratitude to members of the public whose timely information played a crucial role. Jauro-Mohammed also commended the collaboration of other security agencies and local vigilante groups, stating their support “was instrumental to the success of this mission.”

The police have vowed to continue pursuing the kidnappers until all are brought to justice.
