Police uncover plot for violent protests in Kano, arrest 17 suspects

Security operatives in Kano State have thwarted an alleged plot by unpatriotic elements to instigate violent protests aimed at disrupting socio-political and economic activities.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of 17 leaders of different thug gangs, suspected of planning the unrest.

A statement by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police spokesperson, assured residents that adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

“Following credible intelligence reports of a planned violent protest, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has deployed personnel and assets to strategic locations within Kano Metropolis to prevent the protest and ensure public safety,” Kiyawa stated.

The police warned against any form of unlawful gatherings and vowed to respond swiftly and decisively to any attempt to destabilize the state.

Parents and guardians have also been urged to warn their wards against participating in unlawful activities.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as authorities work to maintain peace and stability.
