The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State, Edward Masha has alleged that most of the politicians dumping the party supported or worked for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.
Masha who listed some of the reasons why people leave their parties said the rave of defection rocking the PDP would not affect its political outing in 2027.
Speaking with journalists in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the PDP chairman said the party is deeply rooted at the grassroots level.
He said, “There are numerous reasons why people defect. Primarily, if you lose touch with your constituents, or if the zoning arrangements do not favour you, or if you are unable to secure support during the congresses, you might feel that remaining in the party will not provide you with another opportunity to contest.
“Consequently, seeking an easier alternative becomes appealing,” Masha said.
He also submitted that the people of Kaduna state are educated and know what they want in a leader.
Masha boasted that the PDP has done well for itself as a party and for the Nigerian populace.
According to Masha, 2027 elections would be a workover for the party.
“Review the history of those who left the party, and you will see they do not factor into our calculations. However, I want to assure the general public, especially the PDP family, that together we are stronger, and we will win our elections.
“We have a procedure in place; we will conduct primary elections, while the other party has not conducted any primaries,” he added.
