Gunmen have killed one worshipper during an attack on a Christian Pentecostal Church in Akenawe-Tswarev community in Logo Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that three persons, including a resident pastor, Gwadue Kwaghtyo, were abducted in the incident which happened on Sunday.
This newspaper gathered that the incident happened during church service.
A community leader and President, Gaambe-Tiev Youths Association (GYA), Hemen Terkimbi, told the press that five people, including the acting Kindered Head of Akemkpa, Zaki Tyokase Ingyutu, sustained injuries and were receiving treatment at different hospitals in Ugba and Anyiim towns of Logo LGA.
Chairman of Logo LGA, Mrs Salome Tor, also said: “It was early on Sunday morning (still night hours). A church in one of the wards went for vigil. As they were praying, they were surrounded by the armed men.
“They kidnapped three people, killed one boy and injured two people with machete; they are now in the hospital.”
As of the time of publishing this report, there is no official statement from the police in Benue State concerning the attack.
