The Jigawa State Police has initiated an investigation into the tragic murder of Esther Adekamla, a well-known restaurant owner in Dutse, widely known as Hadiza Nakowa.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu, in Dutse on Friday.
According to the statement, Adekamla was brutally attacked and killed by unknown assailants at her residence in Dutse. The incident came to light on Friday, 15th February 2024, around 1600hrs, when her neighbors reported that they had last seen her on Monday.
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Dutse Division swiftly responded and proceeded to Adekamla’s house. Upon arrival, they discovered that the house was locked, with signs of forced entry indicated by a broken door. Tragically, Adekamla’s lifeless body was found in the sitting room, lying in a pool of blood. Visible cuts were observed on her head and neck, and her body had already started decomposing.
Furthermore, Adekamla’s 11-year-old daughter was found unconscious in a locked storage room. Both victims were promptly rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for medical attention. Despite efforts, Adekamla was confirmed dead by a medical doctor, and her body was conveyed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for autopsy.
Recognizing the severity of the crime, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa Command, Ahmadu Abdullahi, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse, to lead a thorough investigation into the incident.
In light of this tragic incident, the spokesperson urged residents of the area to remain calm and extend their support to the investigation process. The Commissioner assured that anyone found guilty of the crime would be prosecuted according to the law.
