The presidency has reacted to Supreme Court’s announcement of Thursday, October 26, as date for judgement on President Bola Tinubu’s election.
Politics Nigeria reports that Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (Labour Party) had dragged Tinubu (APC) to the apex court following the outcome of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on September 6.
The Supreme Court had reserved verdict on both matters during the hearing on Monday.
The court then announced October 26 to give verdict on the cases.
In a swift reaction via his X (Twitter) handle on Wednesday, special adviser to President Tinubu on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, expressed optimism that his principal will win at the apex court.
He tweeted: “The Supreme Court will give its verdict tomorrow in the appeals filed by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“They are challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Bola Tinubu in the 25 February election.
“We in the APC are hopeful for victory. We are hopeful that the apex court will affirm the sanctity of the 8.9m votes of Nigerians that gave President Tinubu victory last February.”
