President Buhari hails Abdulsamad Rabiu over New Sokoto Cement Plant

President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed Billionaire Businessman, Abdulsamad Rabiu over his contributions to the Nigerian Economy.

Buhari, who commissioned the new BUA 3 million Metric Tonne plant line 4 in Sokoto state on Thursday disclosed that the feat achieved by BUA in the country  is an indication that the policies of the Federal Government on economic diversification, job creation, as well as the creation of an enabling environment for doing business was yielding fruits.

“I was here in 1985, to commission the 2nd line of this plant. Today, almost thirty-seven years later, I am here to commission the fourth line. It is a very special day for me personally and as you all know, one of the key economic pillars of our administration has been to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.”

“I am also told that the company is set to complete two more plants soon. Through these investments, BUA has shown without a shadow of a doubt that they believe in Nigeria and its potential.”

“Today, BUA and other entrepreneurs have made Nigeria self-sufficient in cement and a net exporter of this strategic product.”

BUA cement group revealed that its production will hit 17 million metric tonnes in 2023.

The Chairman of the BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu said: “We have continued our expansion to meet the cement demand in Nigeria with focus on export. We have Commissioned 4 plants in the last four years. Two in Edo and two in Sokoto, bringing our current output to 13mmt.”

“We are combining line 4, line 5 is under construction and would be ready in the first quarter of 2023.”
He said the benefit of the plant extends to the region and the entire country as it is the largest employer of labour in the region.

“We are committed to environmental sustainability. Our power plant run on 100 percent LNG leading to reduced emissions.”

Speaking at the event CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele also praised BUA adding that their various investments in the country is proof of their belief in Nigeria.
