“They (invaders) attacked Umogidi again in the evening of Thursday, February 8, 2024, killed some persons and left others injured
“Two confirmed dead so far. One was my uncle and the other a cousin,” Joseph said.
Alfred Oketa Omakwu, the Otukpo Local Government Area chairman, also confirmed the the attack on the telephone to Daily Trust.
He said two youths were gunned down by the assailants who equally engaged the military.
Omakwu, however, said calm had returned despite threats by the attackers who vowed to come back.
“From Friday, there has been calm and the military presence has increased. But we are still receiving threats from them (invaders). Two of our youths were killed on Thursday. On the point of their (invaders’) entry, they engaged those ones and the military too,” he added.
