President Tinubu’s New Appointee Resigns From Accounting Firm, Gives Reason

Taiwo Oyedele, a fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has resigned from his office in the firm.

Oyedele disclosed his resignation via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 19.

He explained that the move was to enable him to focus entirely with undivided attention on his new role as the Chair of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee.

Oyedele tweeted:

“After over two decades at PwC, I have made the hard but necessary decision to exit the firm. It will enable me to focus fully with undivided attention on my new role as the Chair of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee, which I consider a crucial national assignment.

“This decision will also prevent potential distractions from real or perceived conflicts of interest. Thank you all once again for your support, best wishes and prayers. May God bless you all, and may God bless Nigeria.”

Recall that President Bola Tinubu appointed Oyedele as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

The federal government said the committee’s establishment reflects Tinubu’s commitment to addressing challenges and bringing about transformative fiscal policy and taxation reforms.
