
The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Basheer Lado has congratulated President Bola Tinubu for the successful approval of the State of Emergency declared in Rivers State.
Lado in his message also commended the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and all the lawmakers of the Nigerian Senate for the efforts in ensuring that the State of Emergency proclamation made on Rivers came to fruition.
According to Lado, the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State was aimed at preserving lives, restoring order in the state and protecting Nigeria’s democratic integrity.
His words, “This timely intervention has reinforced the President’s unwavering resolve to prioritize the security and stability of all Nigerians, regardless of political or ethnic affiliations.
“Despite the complexities surrounding this decision, the Senate demonstrated courage, responsibility, and an unshakable commitment to national interest by thoroughly debating and ultimately confirming the proclamation,” Lado noted.
Addressing Nigerians on the outcome of events in the state, Lado stated that the action taken by the president over the political crisis that rocked Rivers State is for the good of the country.
He added that the State of Emergency declared in Rivers is not political but about ensuring the preservation of law and order across the state and Nigeria in general.
He added, “As we move forward, I urge all stakeholders—political leaders, security agencies, and the good people of Rivers State—to work together in restoring lasting peace and stability. May this serve as a reminder that leadership is about making tough but necessary decisions for the collective good of our great nation.
“Once again, congratulations to Mr. President, the Senate President, and all our distinguished Senators for standing on the side of duty, justice, and national interest,” :ado said.
