Lawyers representing various parties in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) have been seen waiting eagerly at the entrance of the venue.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the courtroom is yet to be opened by court officials. While waiting, the lawyers have been using the opportunity to exchange pleasantries with each other.
According to reports, over 50 police officers have been deployed to the premises as pre-hearing sessions commence ahead of the full hearing on applications challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
Among the petitioners are the presidential flag bearers of the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, respectively. Both have responded to the preliminary objections filed against their petitions, which contest Bola Tinubu’s declaration as the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
