Barely six days after the devastating auto crash that took the lives of 22 athletes, the wife of one of the victims has delivered a baby.
It was gathered that the newborn was delivered on Friday during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Recall that Abubakar Isma’il, the father of the baby died alongside 21 other members of the Kano State contingent from the National Sports Festival which took place in Ogun State.
Family members said Isma’il was one of the medical team members who accompanied the athletes to the festival.
His wife Ummi has also described his death as a harrowing experience for her.
According to her, she was cooking when the news of her husband’s tragic Denise was announced to her.
She added that family members had immediately gathered at the accident scene but were denied access to the bodies of the victims.
She also said she had cried profusely at the General Hospital where the bodies were taken before they were released to the families of the victims.
Due to the closeness of her Expected Date of Delivery, her family had also taken her to a private hospital for medical monitoring.
The baby, a boy, was said to have been delivered on Saturday and has been named Abubakar, after his late father.
