Property Worth N1 Billion Recovered As Police, DSS, Others Raid Abuja Shanties

Properties worth N1 billion have been recovered from the several shanties across the Federal Capital Territory, the Police have said.

The raid was conducted by operatives of the FCT police command, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Security (DSS ), the Nigerian Immigration Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) among others.

Highlighting details of the raid, the commissioner for the FCT police command, Tunji Disu said the goods, majorly stolen were recovered while 31 suspects arrested from the Abuna shanties.

He said the joint task force operation was aimed at ending the activities of criminals within the FCT.

While parading the suspects at the command, Disu said some of the shanties raided include those in Dei-Dei, Kabusa, Dei-Dei Outward Lane, Zuba, Mpape, Jabi and Nyanya.

According to Disu, items recovered by the taskforce team included 115 units of manhole covers with the inscription ‘Not for Sale’, five motorcycles, a huge volume of cables, cut-to-size electric transformers, bundles of cables, a huge volume of fibre optic materials, heaps of copper wire and rubber insulators.

He also stated that fake and fabricated Mercedes Benz chassis numbers; documents related to vehicles with unverifiable ownerships; 12 large-size solar panels, large quantities of iron rods (22mm rods), solar panels, vehicle rims, industrial solar batteries weighing scales among several items were also recovered.
