At least 11 youths in Yobe were arrested on Saturday morning as Nigerian police raided the homes of #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters in the northeast state.
The arrests occurred in the towns of Damaturu, Potiskum, and Gashua, where the individuals were forcefully ejected from their homes.
Reports indicate that the arrests targeted those who were vocal and active in the ongoing nationwide protests.
“A number of youths were also arrested in Damaturu and Potiskum in what appears to be an attempt to punish those who were outspoken about the ongoing economic hardship,” a source told the Daily Post.
The source confirmed that the detained individuals, particularly the 11 youths from Gashua, were taken to the state police CID in Damaturu.
The arrests have sparked concern and tension among residents, who fear that the authorities may expand their actions to target more participants in the peaceful protests.
