
Students of the Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola on Monday, April 28, took to the streets to protest the prolonged lack of water and power supply in hostels.
The students who blocked the entrances of the institution said there have been without any form of water or power supply for one week.
According to the students, this particular water and power cut that led to the protest is, the third of its kind on the campus in the past two months.
One of the students who spoke on the matter said, “This is not the first time this is happening. We’ve protested before, but nothing changed. We’re doing this because we need our voices to be heard. We deserve a functioning school environment.”
Venting their frustration over the situation, the students called on the government to immediately address the issues.
Speaking on the incident, a student who pleaded anonymity said it has been difficult to concentrate on class activities with the press in need of water and power supply.
The student said, “We can’t continue like this. It’s been one week without power and water and it’s affecting our studies. It’s hard to concentrate when the school is so uncomfortable.”
