Real reason I don’t flaunt my wealth – Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has said he does not flaunt his wealth because he doesn’t see the need to prove to people that he is rich.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi owns shares in companies in Nigeria. Although the presidential hopeful is perceived to be modestly rich, he does not live a flamboyant life.

The 61-year-old was chairman of Next International Nigeria Ltd, then chairman and director of Guardian Express Mortgage Bank Ltd, Guardian Express Bank Plc, Future View Securities Ltd, Paymaster Nigeria Ltd, Chams Nigeria Ltd, Data Corp Ltd, and Card Centre Ltd.

He is also a former board Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc.

“I own shares in companies here in Nigeria, I don’t have to flaunt it around, those companies pay me dividends and they give me my own money.

“So, if somebody comes tomorrow and says he owns this, it doesn’t matter but at the end of the day I don’t need to show them, I don’t need to wear them around, that’s it. So those things are very clear,” Obi told Trust TV.
