The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Dr Alfred Martins, has advised President Bola Tinubu on the need to reduce his foreign travels as well as the cost of governance.
Bishop Martins’ charge was contained in his Christmas message signed by the director of Social Communications, Lagos Archdiocese, Anthony Godonu.
The cleric urged Nigerians to remain positive and continue to contribute towards ensuring that the country becomes great again while battling its current challenges.
The Catholic Archbishop called on Nigerians not to be afraid to work towards actualising the country of their dream, commending them for their resilience and ability to overcome the obstacles being confronted over the years.
According to Martins, the government should take the lead by reducing the cost of governance, especially on matters that do not have a direct impact on the lives of Nigerians.
He further stressed that the current challenges affecting the country would be overcome and become a thing of the past.
“As Nigerians are being called upon to make sacrifice for the restoration of the nation. He urged government to take the lead by reducing the cost of governance and money spent on matters that do not impact directly on the life of Nigerians such as foreign trips that create a Deja vu feeling in citizens while they had been expecting new ways of doing things,” the statement added.
