Register for N40,000 rice – FG tells Nigerian workers

The Federal Government has called on civil servants to register for the N40,000 rice meant to be distributed to Nigerians as palliative to cushion the impact of the current food crisis.

A letter issued by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs and signed by the Director of Human Resources of the Ministry, Jaiyesimi Abimbola, said FG has concluded plans to sell 50kg bags of rice at N40,000 to workers.

Abimbola urged all staff members to ensure they complete a Google form published on the OHCSF website and submit it to the director of human resources for endorsement.

He added that the payment for and the distribution of the 50kg bags of rice would be coordinated by designated offices while the chairman of the Joint Union Council of the ministry would serve as an observer for transparency throughout the exercise.

According to Abimbola, each worker is entitled to only one bag of 50kg of rice. He also said that two or more staff can jointly pay for one bag to be shared among themselves.

The letter read in part, “As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the current food crisis in the country and its effects on the general population, I am directed to inform you that 50kg bags of rice will be sold at a subsidised rate of N40,000 only per bag to interested public servants in Abuja.

“For effective implementation, all interested staff are required to complete a Google form on the OHCSF website, https://www.ohcsf.gov.ng, print, and submit same to the Director, HR, for endorsement.”
