Remi Tinubu Clears Air on ‘Closure’ of Aso Rock Chapel

Wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reacted to social media report that she order the closure of the Aso Rock Chapel.

Politics Nigeria gathered that a Twitter user with the username @VeronicaaNaomi had alleged that Mrs Tinubu ordered the closure of the chapel.

According to the Twitter user, the First Lady allegedly gave the order “because some Villa residents refused to support her husband, President Bola Tinubu, during the presidential election in February 2023”.

In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs Tinubu said weekly service still holds at the Aso Rock Chapel.

She referred to such a report as a fabrication and a total falsehood representation of things nothing that the First Lady never gave such directive.

According to her, President Tinubu is yet to appoint a chaplain for the chapel.

“We wish to state categorically that this is a fabrication and totally false representation of the true situation, as the First Lady at no time gave such directive that the Chapel be shut and the keys handed over to Her Excellency,” the statement read.

“Presently there are weekly fellowships going on at the Chapel. However, Mr President is yet to appoint a Chaplain for the chapel after the exit of the last Chaplain, as he only reserves the right to appoint a Chaplain for the Chapel.”
