The House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a warrant of arrest against the management of the commission for walking out of the venue of an investigative hearing.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chairman of the committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the NDDC management must account for the funds spent by the commission.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the committee is probing the alleged mismanagement and illegal spending of N81.5bn spent between January and July 2020 by the commission.
The Acting Managing Director of the commission, Prof Kemebrandikumo Pondei, alongside members of the Interim Management Committee, stormed out of the venue of the hearing after Tunji-Ojo refused to step down.
The NDDC IMC had asked the Chairman to step down after he was accused of various “crimes” against the commission.
However, members of the committee rejected the request and asked the NDDC management to submit a petition to the anti-graft agencies in the country for any corrupt practices allegedly committed by the Chairman.
