Former chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Chief Simon Okeke, has appealed to the Federal Government to review its stand on the activities of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and address assumed injustice which led to their agitation.
Okeke gave the advice during a press briefing in his country home, Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.
He said that agitations by IPOB arose from felt marginalisation, inequality and lack of a level-playing ground for all to operate and noted that where there are no justice, agitations will continue to reign.
“I believe strongly that if adequate attention is given to their (IPOB) cause and equity assumed, the agitations will die down,” he said.
Furthermore, Okeke urged the government to ensure equality and equity in leadership of the country at the centre and address the issue as it is one of the agitations that has kept the country divided.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that in June, IPOB leader and founder Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya, according to his lawyers, and brought back to Nigeria to face treason charges.
Kanu’s IPOB is attempting to revive the now defunct Republic of Biafra, a declaration of independence which led to a 30-month civil war between 1967 and 1970.
More than one million people, mostly Igbo, were killed in the fighting or by starvation and disease.
No etinic nations in this Nigeria are more nationality than Igbo’s .every ethnic nation are working for what they can get from Nigeria .but only Igbo’s are working for what they can give to Nigeria. The Igbo’s has building s in every state capitals and the 774 local government s headquarters of Nigeria.but Nigeria refused to see them as nationalists. No one can suppress them .give them their right of citizen ship and celebrate them. But sidelining Igbo’s is killing Nigeria .every town ,city ,villages knows this. They are every where developing Nigeria .no other group can host of this.
I agree with you bros and that’s the reason why PMB is doubtful of south East intention to exist Nigeria. He feels, Nnamdi Kanu is on his own in this agitation but what we’re saying, if he doesn’t believe this, let him call for referendum as requested by IPOB to test if Onyendu is carrying the people along.
