Ikenga Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives member from Imo state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers will contest and win the governorship election in the state come 2027.
Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato federal constituency in the Green Chambers, made the declaration while addressing his constituents in Akokwa, Ideato North local government area of Imo State.
The federal lawmaker was speaking on the current issue over the 27 Rivers state lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ikenga said they remained removed because they left the party before the crisis that had engulfed the state, saying the remaining lawmakers formed a quorum.
His words: “Let me ask, if you seize the allocation to Rivers, can you guarantee security and payment of salaries to teachers and everyone?
“They want to make the place fail so that they can impeach the governor. But let me tell you, Fubara will contest and he will win in 2027”.
The lawmaker however commended the judiciary for their efforts and appealed to the chief justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-ekun and her colleagues to ensure the right thing is done.
