Sallah: Dozens stranded on Abuja/Kaduna expressway

Over a hundred travellers have been stranded at the Abuja/Kaduna expressway few hours to the Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah) celebrations.

The road users, including motorists and motorcyclists, have been at a standstill for over six hours

It was gathered that the road has been jammed for several kilometers from Jere up to Katarina, forcing road users to opt for the alternative road of Kagarko/Kachia/Kaduna roaddespite the security risks according with that route.

The heavy traffic situation began, on Friday and got worse, on Saturday, June 15.

An official of Kaduna state government said they are aware of it and have been working to restore normalcy since last night.

Pilgrims are currently observing Arafat as Muslims all over the world mark Eid-el-Kabir, on Sunday.

Eid-el-Kabir is one of the Muslims’ festivals commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Isma’il.

It is usually commemorated with the slaughtering of healthy rams after the Eid prayers.
