The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Sunday Fagbemi, has alleged that the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is hobnobbing with ruling party members and leaders in Abuja.
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, Fagbemi urged Saraki to quit his behind-the-scenes link and do well by dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
According to Fagbemi, Saraki needs to submit himself to the leadership of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq by formally joining the APC.
Further describing the former Senate President as a self-centred leader, Fagbemi said several loyalists of Saraki have left the PDP for the APC and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
His words, “It is our style not to give this kind of issue serious media attention because it is a non-issue, given the antecedents of Dr Bukola Saraki.
“The former Senate President should summon the political will to join our party in Kwara State under our leader and performing governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, instead of hobnobbing with our party in Abuja,” Fagbemi stated.
Also noting that Saraki does not pose any political threat to the APC in Kwara State and at the national level, the party chairman said he lacks the loyalty and integrity to influence elections.
“He is simply playing a survival strategy because there is nothing left for him politically in the state.
“There is no longer access to state government resources, so he is trying to survive at all costs by hobnobbing with the APC in Abuja,” Fagbemi said.
