Saraki to lead reconciliation committee as PDP begins move to unite Wike, Atiku, others

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki is poised to assume the role of chairman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, pending final confirmation.

The development emerged from resolutions at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, barring unforeseen changes.

The PDP NEC had at the meeting, amongst others, resolved to set up a Committee to reconcile aggrieved members.

Also, in the aftermath of the NEC meeting, there were indications last night that former deputy national secretary of the party, Emmanuel Agbo, has been pencilled down to replace CID Maduabum as director general of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

Daily Sun reports that Agbo’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to assuage concerns from the North Central region, which has advocated for greater representation in party leadership.

While Agbo and five others had expressed interest in replacing Iyorchia Ayu as the party’s national chairman, deliberations on Ayu’s replacement have been deferred until August.
