Scores of Journalists Injured in Gov. Okowa’s Convoy Accident

A group of 12 journalists affiliated with the Delta State Government House found themselves in a distressing situation yesterday.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the unfortunate incident transpired when their vehicle, a 16-seater bus traveling as part of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s convoy, was involved in an accident.

The mishap took place on the Ogwash-uku/Asaba highway, a short distance from the Admirality University. The convoy had been returning from Warri, where Governor Okowa had been present to inaugurate a notable project.

This newspaper reports that while precise details surrounding the incident remain somewhat elusive, at the time of this report, one of the victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, provided an account from their hospital bed.

According to their testimony, the vehicle, traveling at considerable speed, suffered a tire failure, leading to multiple somersaults after careening off the road.

Following the accident, all the injured journalists were promptly transported to the intensive care unit of the Specialist Hospital in Asaba for urgent medical attention.

Regrettably, the current condition of their health remains unknown, as attempts to contact Dr. Mordi Onoye, the state commissioner for health, for an update were unsuccessful, this newspaper learnt.

Governor Okowa himself demonstrated both empathy and support during this trying time, personally overseeing the provision of professional assistance to the injured individuals.
