Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reached out to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, signaling a new calm after months of tension.

The Kogi Central lawmaker has invited Akpabio to Kogi for a project commissioning ceremony in her district.

The invitation came through a letter personally signed by Senator Natasha and read aloud by Akpabio during plenary.

As part of activities marking her second year in office, the event will hold this Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State.

In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.

She also stated that the meeting point would be her residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene. Lawmakers planning to fly in were advised to land at the Obajana Airstrip, then proceed by road to Ihima.

Akpabio, after reading the letter, responded warmly. “Congratulations in advance,” he said on the floor of the Senate, drawing a few murmurs from colleagues, given their past political friction.

This development marks a major step toward peace between both senators. Earlier in the year, their disagreement over committee and seat allocation escalated into a heated face-off, leading to Senator Natasha’s six-month suspension on March 6.

Since her return on September 24, she has been more engaged during plenary sessions and has occasionally interacted with Akpabio.

However, this public invitation is the clearest gesture yet suggesting she is ready to move forward and work more closely with Senate leadership.
