The Senate on Wednesday suspended the confirmation of Kingsley Udeh (SAN) as minister due to the absence of a mandatory security clearance.

The suspension followed the absence of a mandatory security clearance for the nominee, Senate President Godswill Akpabio disclosed during plenary.

Akpabio explained that Udeh’s confirmation could not proceed until the chamber received the required security report.

“The confirmation of the minister-nominee would have been next on the list, but we need security clearance,” he told the Senate.

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu had written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of Udeh, who is from Enugu State, as a minister. The request was contained in a letter read by Akpabio during the session.
