Senator Kalu rewards N1M to victorious Enyimba FC

Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu, has presented Enyimba FC with N1m after winning the CAF Confederation Cup over Al Ittihad SC at the Enyimba Internation Stadium.

Previously, the former Governor promised the team on Saturday that he pledged to reward the sum to the two-time CAF champions league, should they defeat their Libyan counterparts. The match ended on Sunday with 2-0, defeating Al-Ittihad after two legs of the play-off.

He wrote on his Facebook handle that he wished the coach, the commissioner of sports, and all-loving fans of Enyimba to be well. As winning is important to the team and all supporters, he promised to congratulate the team with one million nairas if they come out victorious.

According to Kalu’s media team, he has redeemed his promise to the People’s Elephant. The Chairman of Enyimba FC, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu expressed his gratitude for the reward granted, particularly amid a crucial stage for the team.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a man whose love for football has never been in doubt, which is why he is a Pillar of Sports in Africa,” said Mr Agwu thanking the former governor. “His gift is a big boost to the players.”

Kalu has always been influential in supporting Enyimba’s dominance in the local league and the continent. He was a governor when Enyimba won the first title for Nigeria at the CAF Champions League in 2003, and another continental trophy in 2004.
