Dr Mohammed Egye Osolafia, Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, has been released less than 24 hours after his abduction.
Osolafia, popularly known as Deedat, was seized by unidentified gunmen who stormed his residence in the Tudun Amba area of Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday night, shortly after he arrived home.
Reports say the attackers fired sporadically into the air to intimidate residents before whisking him away.
Confirming the incident, Governor Sule’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, described the abduction as “sad and unfortunate.”
Multiple security and family sources said Osolafia was released unharmed on Sunday night.
However, details surrounding his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear.
