Sexual harassment: Akpabio’s aide opens up on Atiku’s allegations against Senate President

Eseme Eyiboh, an aide to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has said that his principal would not respond to the recent sexual harassment allegation levelled against him (Akpabio) by Atiku Abubakar.

In a recent interview with Punch, Eyiboh said the Senate President would accord Atiku the respect he deserves as a former vice by not responding.

Recall that Atiku Abubakar in an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie described Akpabio as one with a habit of abusing women.

Atiku also alleged that the Senate President was known for corruption during his time as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

The former vice president’s allegations against Akpabio comes at the peak of outrage following an outbrust by a lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on the floor of the plenary.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had accused Akpabio of intimidating her and undermining her effort to represent her people at the Senate.

According to her, things went south between her and the Senate President after she refused his (Akpabio) sexual advances towards her.

However reacting to the allegation, Eyiboh said Akpabio was to busy with issues of national importance than to meddle in such talks with Atiku.

“The Senate President doesn’t respond like that. He’s the former Vice President of Nigeria and we are giving him that respect. So, no matter what he does, we cannot go to the dustbin to fight or start debating with him on such an issue.

“The Senate President is the number three man in this country and his primary responsibility is about the preservation of the country’s sovereignty and respect to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So he will not be able to go to the street to join issues with anybody,” Eyiboh stated.
