Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has weighed in on the recent arrest of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Sani called on the Nigerian government to ensure that Kanu rights’ as a human being are respected and that he is tried within the ambit of the country’s laws.
“The fundamental rights of Nnamdi Kanu should be respected in compliance with the relevant articles of the constitution of the FRN.”
“His trial should be guided by justice, fairness and the rule of law and not sentiments, prejudice, hate, ill feelings, vengeance or bigotry.”
On Tuesday afternoon, the Department of State Security, DSS arraigned Kanu in Court before Justice Binta Nyarko. She remanded him in DSS custody until July 29th for his next court appearance.
