Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the swearing-in of President Alassane Ouattara for his fourth term in office.

His arrival was confirmed in a statement issued by the Office of the Vice President.

According to the statement, Shettima will join other African leaders and international dignitaries at the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Monday at the Presidential Palace.

He was received at the airport by Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Robert Mambe; Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires, Item Akpama; and other senior officials of the host country.

President Ouattara secured re-election on October 25, further strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s long-standing diplomatic relationship with Nigeria.

“Nigeria remains committed to supporting sister nations in West Africa and upholding constitutional governance. The Vice-President is expected to reaffirm Nigeria’s dedication to democratic values and to leadership transitions based on constitutional processes,” the statement added.
