Nigerian singer and entertainer Speed Darlington, popularly known as “AKPI,” has been arrested again by the police in Owerri during one of his shows.
Counsel for the singer and Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development in a post on his official X page on Wednesday.
He wrote, “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
The singer was earlier arrested over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking involving Burna Boy.
The controversy began after Speed Darlington’s comments about Burna Boy’s Grammy win for the album Twice as Tall, executive-produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Darlington had made allegations insinuating inappropriate conduct between Burna Boy and Diddy, which sparked a formal complaint leading to his detention.
Speed Darlington’s mother then made a viral video pleading for Burna Boy to forgive him. Interestingly, after his release, the singer continued making inappropriate remarks about Burna Boy.
However, the reason for the singer’s second arrest remains unclear for now.
