Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has hinted that Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, may soon dump the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Kalu said Soludo’s political ideology aligns closely with that of the APC and other progressive leaders across the South East and Nigeria.

According to him, “Soludo is a progressive like myself, President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and the Governors of Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu. He has no alternative than to come and join us. It’s confirmed.”

Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate and chairs the Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC), said Soludo’s eventual move to the APC would strengthen the party’s base in the region.

He noted that more South East leaders are already showing interest in working with the Tinubu administration.

The former Abia governor described the APC as the only political platform with a clear direction and a working plan for Nigeria’s development.

He added that the party is open to all well-meaning Nigerians who believe in progress and national unity.

Kalu also maintained that President Bola Tinubu remains the right leader to consolidate democratic gains and rebuild the economy, saying the APC-led government is focused on reforms that will benefit all Nigerians.

“2027 is Tinubu vs Tinubu,” he said confidently, explaining that the President enjoys massive support across the country and will face little or no real opposition in the next election.

The lawmaker commended the Senate under Godswill Akpabio for working closely with the President to deliver economic stability and pass people-oriented bills.

“Whatever the problem, the Senate is more interested in making laws that will help President Tinubu overcome the economic challenges our people are going through,” he stated.

On speculations that some governors in the South East, including Abia’s Alex Otti, might defect to the APC, Kalu said no one is being pressured. He emphasized that the ruling party believes in free choice and open-door politics.

“Neither I nor the President nor any APC leader has forced anyone to join our party. I have met with my governor; he is my brother and used to be my banker. Whether he joins or not is up to him,” Kalu said.

The former Abia State Governor, however, reaffirmed his total commitment to the APC, vowing to work for the success of all party candidates in upcoming elections.

“I will work 100% for the APC, campaign in the state, and ensure victory for President Tinubu and all our candidates,” he said.
