South East crisis: Sponsors of Unknown Gunmen many – Joe Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, an All Progresssives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lagos state says sponsors of criminals perpetrating vile acts in Nigeria’s Southeast region “are many”.

Igbokwe was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s October 1st Independence Day celebration speech, where the Nigerian leader said that a member of the National Assembly is one of those bankrolling separatists.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that separatist organizations in Nigeria include the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group some people accuse of being behind the carnage currently experienced in the Southeast; and Ilana Omo Oodua.

“We are vigorously pursuing these financiers, including one identified as a serving member of the National Assembly.

“This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains. Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.

“As the so-called leaders run abroad to hide, our innocent youths are misled and left in the streets to fight for their senseless and destructive causes,” Buhari had said.

For Igbokwe, the sponsors are a lot.

“WHO IS THE LAWMAKER IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ARMING AND BANKROLLING IPOB KILLERS IN THE SOUTH EAST? WHO IS HE bikonu? THE SPONSORS ARE MANY IN IGBOLAND,” Igbokwe wrote on his known Facebook page on Saturday.
