Human Rights activist and one-time Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday claimed that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) can be killed by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Sowore who said this via a post on his verified Facebook page, linked his fear to “Buhari’s arrogance”.
“Muhammadu Buhari’s arrogance over the kidnap and subsequent detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is palpable from his interview on Channels Television! We must ensure Kanu is freed before Muhammadu Buhari murders him! #FreeNnamdiKanu,” Sowore wrote.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kanu is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony instituted against him in response to years of the campaign for the Republic of Biafra through IPOB. The separatist leader is presently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
A federal high court sitting in Abuja has adjourned his trial till January 18.
Kanu was arrested abroad and returned to Nigeria after he jumped bail and fled the country in 2017.
