Activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore has commended the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Chioma Ifemeludike over her participation in the just concluded Anambra governorship election.
Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate and chairman of the party said he is exceedingly proud of Ifemeludike who garnered a total of 292 votes at the poll, which saw the re-election of Chukwuma Soludo as governor of Anambra State.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Sunday, November 9, declared Soludo as the winner of the Saturday, November 8, gubernatorial poll in the state.
Soludo, the incumbent governor of Anambra state garnered a total of 422,664 votes against the All Progressives Congress candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu who came second with 99,445 votes; Paul Chukwuma of Young Progressive Party (YPP) who scored 37,753 and George Moghalu of Labour Party scored 10,576.
However, in a post made on Monday, Sowore described the Anambra guber poll as a sham organised by INEC in collaboration with the security agencies.
He wrote on X, “I am exceedingly proud of @ife_dike Chioma Ifemeludike, the gubernatorial candidate of the @aacparty in the recently concluded Anambra governorship election, which was undoubtedly a sham orchestrated by the electoral commission, @inecnigeria, the @Policeng and the Nigerian Army @HQNigerianArmy.”
He also stated that, all through the campaign, the AAC candidate conducted herself with dignity and intelligence while standing firmly against ideologies adopted by other Nigerian politicians.
“Throughout her campaign, she conducted herself with intelligence and dignity, but those who vowed to disregard the votes claimed victory, albeit the people rejected them and their ideologies. The true victors are the principled individuals who refused to compromise,” Sowore said.
In response to Sowore’s commendation, Ifemeludike said, “Thank you so much, sir. This victory couldn’t have been possible without the African Action Congress (AAC) party which you’ve greatly influenced and nurtured.
“Sir, I can’t tell enough how much your visionary leadership has strategically impacted our society,” her reply to Sowore’s post said.
