Sowore’s Trial: FG’s Witness Unpreparedness Stalled Trial

The trial of Omoyele Sowore, the Publisher of Sahara Reporters and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare has been adjourned till April 1 following unpreparedness of the first witness called by Federal Government.

The two defendants are being prosecuted by the Nigerian government on two count charges of treasonable felony.

The prosecution’s first witness, Rasheed Olawale, was cut short on Wednesday by the defence counsel, Femi Falana (SAN).

According to Mr Falana, the witness’ evidence on the matter does not correlate with the summary of his statement served on the defence.

He, however, called the attention of the court to this.

In his reaction, the presiding judge, Ijeoma Ojukwu, directed the prosecutor to do the needful.

Meanwhile, Aminu Alilu, the prosecuting councel assured the court that all full statements of all the proposed prosecution witnesses would be served on the defendants before the next adjourned date.
