In continuation of his last minute sweep of the industry, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika on Monday relieved Engineer Matthew Pwajok, Politics Nigeria reports.
Pwajok is the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA)
Pwajok who has been in acting capacity since February 2022 drawing criticism from stakeholders in the sector for what many described as tyrannical stance.
The minister had on Saturday sacked the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu after the latter had served four years in office.
Investigation revealed that six directors FAAN have also been kicked out while others are to be redeploy across agencies in the ministry.
The Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Engr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, has replaced Engr. Pwajok as NAMA MD.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the appointment of Odunowo takes immediate effect.
Meanwhile, industry think tank group, Aviation Round Table Initiatives (ARTSI) bemoaned Sirika’s decision to appoint a new Director General, Managing Directors or Directors with barely ten days to the eve of a new administration.
