The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has made provision for free shuttle buses to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the students and staff of the institution.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ishaya Tanko made the announcement in a circular signed by the Senior Deputy Registrar of the institution, Abdullahi Abdullahi on Friday, June 9.
According to the Tanko, the shuttle buses will be functional every day except on Sundays adding that they would be available on designated routes within Jos, the state capital for free, to relieve the people of their sufferings.
The circular maintained that the move was meant to ease the transportation difficulties that might arise from the subsidy removal on staff and students of the institution, especially during the second-semester examinations.
Some of the routes the buses will be plying are: Plateau Private -Tina Junction-Angwa Rukuba -University Staff Quarters Gate – Bauchi Ring Road-Naraguta Campus, Polo roundabout-St Murumba-Faringada- Naraguta campus, British America Overhead bridge-Old JUTH-Bauchi Road-Bauchi Road campus.
The University stressed that only staff and students with valid identity cards would benefit from using the buses.
