The Super Eagles of Nigeria will lock horns with current World champions, Argentina, in an international friendly scheduled for March in China.
The match will be played at the Olympics Sports Centre Stadium in Hangzhou.
This announcement comes after the Argentine Football Association (AFA) confirmed their agreement with a Chinese corporation to organise a friendly tour featuring La Albiceleste. Apart from Nigeria, Argentina will also face Ivory Coast during this tour.
This March fixture will reignite the historic rivalry between the Super Eagles and Argentina, with both teams having met nine times in the past. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Argentina holds the upper hand, having emerged victorious in six of their previous encounters, with five of those wins coming at the FIFA World Cup (2-1 in 1994, 1-0 in 2002, 1-0 in 2010, 3-2 in 2014, and 2-1 in 2018).
The only time these two sides shared the spoils was in the 1995 King Fahd Cup, where the match ended in a goalless draw. However, the Super Eagles have managed to secure victories in two friendly matches against Argentina, the most recent being a 4-2 win in Krasonor, Russia, in 2017.
