Supplementary Election: ‘Fintiri has bought over Adamawa Returning Officer’, CSO alleges

As the re-run of the Adamawa State governorship election commences, a Civil Society Organisation, Centre For Civil Rights and Social Justice (CCRSJ) on Saturday alleged that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has bought over the Returning Officer (RO) in the state, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Modibo University Yola, Abdullahi Liman Tukur, who is allegedly desirous of taking over as governor from Fintiri if the plot succeeds after his second tenure.

The CSO in a terse statement signed by its Executive Director, Peter Ebam, and sent to POLITICS NIGERIA alleged that the incumbent governor is mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the list of ad-hoc staff trained by the commission to be replaced by his cronies to do his bidding.

Recall that in March, in the Northeast state, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, got 390,275 votes while Governor Fintiri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate garnered 421,524 votes.

However, INEC state collation officer, Professor Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri, declared the election inconclusive due to the margin of votes.
